Women's Golf Improves By 18 Strokes in Seocnd Round

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - The Richmond women's golf team improved 18 strokes from round one and is just four strokes out of 12th place entering the final round of the Cuthbert Cup.
The Spiders shot a 318 in Monday's second round and sits at 654 entering Tuesday's final round. Richmond is four strokes behind Appalachian State.
"We have a tendency to start off tournament's a slow, but then regroup and play better the rest of the tournament," Richmond women's coach Leighann Albaugh said. "We're looking to finish strong tomorrow."
Sophomore Anne Sprick and freshman Jillian Fraccola are tied for 53rd at 162. Fraccola shot a 4-over-par 76 on the Kiawah Island Resort's Osprey Course Monday, while Sprick shot a 5-over 77.
Senior Alex Latimer is in 57th at 166. She shot an 85 in the second round after an 81 on Monday. Freshman Christina Gray is tied for 58th at 167, after shooting an 82 in the second round. Sophomore Lauren Folgosa is tied for 60th at 168, after carding an 83 on Tuesday.
The Cuthbert Cup is a men's and women's tournament taking place at the same time. The men and women will be paired together on the Osprey course on Tuesday.
