WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Senior Jordan Utley recorded his sixth-straight top-10 finish as the Richmond men's golf team finished sixth out of 19 teams at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary at Kingsmill Country Club.
Utley was tied for 24th at 3-over-par 74 after the first round, but shot a 1-under 70 in the second and final round Tuesday to finish in a tie for ninth at 2-over 144. Nine of Utley's last 12 rounds have been at par or below and he has seven sub-par rounds this year, including three of his last five rounds.
The Richmond, Va. native has won the last two Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors and has received the award after the last three tournaments he has played in dating back to the fall season.
"Jordan continues to play extremely well," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "He is really having a terrific senior year."
Richmond had its streak of five-straight top-5 team finishes snapped, finishing sixth. The Spiders were three strokes out of a two-way tie for fourth and four shots back of third place.
Junior Grant Rafield duplicated his first round 73 on Tuesday to finish at 4-over 146 in a tie for 17th. Sophomore Robert Lindstrom tied for 35th with a 7-over 149 (75-74) and senior Billy Hanes tied for 54th at 10-over 152 (75-77). Junior Tim Courtney tied for 59th at 11-over 153 (78-75).
Richmond returns to action on April 4-5 at the Marshall Invitational.
