Spiders Wrap Up Wake Forest Invite; Fred Hardy Meet Next Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - One week before hosting lone home meet of the season, the Richmond track & field team wrapped up competition Saturday afternoon at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, N.C. Monica Howard led the way, with a sixth-place finish in the discus. The 2008 Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the Spiders, begins next Friday at First Market Stadium on campus.
Howard's sixth-place finish in the discus came thanks to a mark of 42.20m. The freshman also competed in the javelin and was 22nd with a throw of 27.40m.
X'auntasia Johnson finished 26th in the long jump (4.92m), while Samella Koroma was 27th in the discus (32.86m) and Stephanie Lapp was 25th in the javelin (26.47m).
On the men's side, Matt Llano took 31st in the 1,500m with a time of 4:03.55, while Tim Quinn was 46th in the same event (4:07.83).
