Annual Student-Athlete Celebration Honors Spiders

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The annual University of Richmond Student-Athlete Celebration was held on April 14 in the Alice Haynes Room at Tyler Hanes Commons.
All Spider student-athletes were in attendance and watched the 2007-08 athletic highlight film. Each senior student-athlete was recognized with a clock and other academic awards were presented. President Edward Ayers, dean Joseph Boehman and athletic director Jim Miller spoke to the Richmond student-athletes.
The Spider Club Athlete of the Year Awards went to football's Tim Hightower, men's soccer's Jessica Witt for their athletic contributions, as well as excelling in areas of leadership, scholarship and community involvement.
The Presidential Citation Award, given to a male and female senior student-athlete who has the highest cum GPA, went to women's lacrosse player Claire Cunnif and men's track athlete Brendan Regan.
The Helen Reba Humbert Award, awarded to a graduating male and female student-athlete based on outstanding athletic, leadership and scholarly attributes, went to field hockey player Erin Arthur and men's golfer Jordan Utley.
The Donnie Lindsey First-Year Spirit Award is given in his memory to freshmen student-athletes based on outstanding athletic, leadership and scholarly attributes. Freshman men's basketball player Kevin Anderson and freshman women's basketball player Brittani Shells received the Donnie Lindsey First-Year Spirit Award.
