WILLIAMBSURG, Va. - Playing two freshmen and two sophomores, the Richmond women's golf team finished sixth at the CAA Women's Golf Championship, which concluded Sunday at the Golden Horseshoe's Green Course.
The Spiders shot a 310 - Richmond's best round of the tournament, to finish at 953 and open up a nine-shot advantage on seventh-place Towson. The youthful Spiders were without sophomore Victoria Kidder, who finished fourth at the CAA Championship last spring but missed the entire year due to a wrist injury.
Sophomore Lauren Folgosa led the Spiders, tying for 16th place at 18-over-par 234. Folgosa shot a 6-over 78 in Sunday's final round on the par-72, 6,150-yard Green Course. She shot a 79 in Friday's first round and a 77 in the second round Saturday.
This was Folgosa's second top-20 finish in as many CAA Championships. She finished 14th as a freshman last year.
Freshman Jillian Fraccola tied for 21st at 20-over-par 236. She followed 79s in each of the first two rounds with a 78 on Sunday. Sophomore Anne Sprick tied for 29th at 240. Sprick shot a 78 for the second-straight round after an opening round 84.
Freshman Christina Gray shot Richmond's best round of the tournament Sunday, posting a 4-over 76. She finished the tournament in 35th place at 243 after an opening round 82 and second round 85.
Senior Alex Latimer shot an 83 playing in her final collegiate event. She finished the tournament in 42nd place with a 260.
