UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Jordan Utley and sophomore Robert Lindstrom have been named to the Golf Coaches Association of America Division I PING All-Mid Atlantic Region Team.
The PING All-Mid Atlantic Region Team consists of the top 15 individuals in the region according to the Individual Ranking System.
Utley makes his third-straight appearance on the PING All-Mid Atlantic Region Team after leading the Spiders in scoring average at 72.75, which ranked fourth in the Atlantic 10. The Richmond, Va. native was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team for the second time after finishing fourth at the conference championship. Utley is a two-time Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference selection and was named to Cleveland Golf's Academic All-American Scholar Team last year.
"Jordan has piled up numerous accolades over his career and earning all-region honors three years in a row ranks among the most impressive," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said.
Utley shot 10 of his 26 rounds below par and finished four tournaments under par. He had four top-5 finishes and seven top-10 finishes in 2007-08. He finished his career with two tournament victories, winning the ODU/Seascape Invitational during the fall and the Joe Agee Invitational last spring.
Lindstrom was second on the team and seventh in the Atlantic 10 with a 73.31 scoring average. He shot seven of his 26 rounds under par, including two rounds of 68, and carded another three rounds at even-par. The Huntsville, Ala. native had two top-10 finishes and six times finished in the top-15.
"Robert had a good first year with us after transferring from Birmingham Southern," Decker said. "We look forward to Robert continuing to work hard on his game this summer. He will be a key to our success next year."
The Spiders placed fifth at the Atlantic 10 Championship at Orange County National Golf Club in early May. Richmond posted six top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments during the 2007-08 season.
