UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond men's golf coach Adam Decker announced the addition of incoming freshmen Jack Lessing and Brad Miller for the 2008-09 season.
Miller will join the Spiders after a standout career at Gilman High in Timonium, Md., while Lessing becomes the third Spider men's golfer in his family out of Cold Spring Harbor High in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.
"We are really excited to add Brad Miller and Jack Lessing to our roster for next season," Decker said. "They are very similar in that they have strong work ethics and will fill the hole left by our graduating class. We are looking to build the program and improve our national rank and these two freshmen will both play a role in achieving that goal."
Both Miller and Lessing know the University of Richmond well. Miller's sister Meredith is entering her senior year at the University, while Lessing's older brother Steve was a 2003 graduate and his older brother Lawrence will be a senior on the 2008-09 squad.
"Both have siblings that attend UR and should have an easy time in transition to the University," Decker said. "Their playing backgrounds are outstanding and I will look for them to settle into the team environment and compete for starting roles right away."

Lessing earned six letters at Cold Spring Harbor High, joining the varsity team in the seventh grade. He was a four-time team MVP and four-time All-Nassau County selection for coach Jamie Lawlor. Lessing led Cold Spring Harbor to a perfect record (24-0) over his final two years, leading to conference championships in 2006 and 2007.
Miller was a four-year letterwinner at Gilman High for coach Don Rogers. The 2008 Baltimore Examiner Player of the Year was also selected twice to the all-conference, All-Baltimore City and Baltimore Sun All-Metro teams. He finished fourth in the state individual tournament as a sophomore and was a runner-up in both his junior and senior years, losing in a playoff as a senior.
