Gray Finishes Ninth As Spiders Take Seventh At Hoya Invitational

BEALLESVILLE, Md. - Sophomore Christina Gray tied for ninth and the Richmond women's golf team finished seventh out of 15 teams at the Hoya Invitational, completed Tuesday.
Gray shot rounds of 77, 78 and 79 to finish at 18-over 234, just three shots out of fourth place. It was the second-straight top-10 finish and the third this season for the reigning CAA Player of the Week.
"Christina had another solid tournament, she's playing very good golf right now," Richmond head coach Leighann Albaugh said.
Junior Lauren Folgosa tied for 16th at 239 (81-76-82) on the par-72, 6,127-yard course. Sophomore Jillian Fraccola tied for 27th at 245, overcoming an opening round 90 to shoot a 77 and 78 in the final two rounds.
Junior Anne Sprick tied for 55th at 28 (91-84-83) and freshman Jackie Evans tied for 65th at 264 (89-86-89).
"We have some time to get in some good practice before we had to Eastern Kentucky, and then the conference championship comes right after that," Albaugh said. "We just need to be peaking at for the conference tournament."
Richmond returns to action on April 11 at the Eastern Kentucky Lady Colonel Invitational, the last tune-up before the CAA Championship, April 17-19 at Callaway Gardens, Ga.
