Walker Named Atlantic 10 Rookie Of The Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond freshman Daniel Walker was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after tying for seventh at the Missouri Tiger Invitational.
Walker shot a 2-over 74 in the first round and a 1-over 73 in the final round on his way to a 224. He helped lead Richmond to a runner-up finish out of 13 teams at the season-opening Missouri Tiger Invitational, played Sept. 6-7 at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, N.Y.
"Daniel played extremely well for his first collegiate tournament," Richmond head coach Adam Decker said. "We have a pair of very talented freshmen this year and they both got off to a great start"
The Earlysville, Va. native tied with junior teammate Sam Beach in seventh. Richmond freshman Nick Austin also finished in the top-15 in his first collegiate tournament, tying for 11th.
The Spiders return to action Sept. 28-29 at the VCU Shootout at Hermitage Country Club.
