
Spiders, Austin In First Entering Second Round Of Richond Intercollegiate

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Richmond sophomore Nick Austin is in the lead after shooting a 6-under-par 66 and the Spiders are also in first at 5-under-par 283 after the first round of the Richmond Intercollegiate, being played Monday at Independence Golf Club.
The second round is underway this afternoon and the third and final round of the 54-hole tournament will be played Tuesday morning.
The Spiders have a two-shot lead on Longwood (285) entering the afternoon round. James Madison is in third (292), while George Mason and Radford are tied for fourth (294) in the 11-team event.
Austin entered the afternoon round with a three-shot lead over teammate Sam Beach and Longwood's Michael Young, who were tied for second at 3-under 69.
James Madison's Ryan Vince, Liberty's Jordan Frye and Longwood's Ross Sumner are in a three-way tie for fourth.
Richmond junior Brad Miller is tied for 14th at 1-over 73, senior Michael Shrader is tied for 31st at 3-over 75 and sophomore Daniel Walker is tied for 40th (76).
Playing as individuals for the Spiders, junior Jack Lessing is tied for 40th with a 76 and freshman Jack Wilkes is tied for 49th with a 77.
