Women's Golf Opens Season At Kiawah Island

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Playing against a highly competitive field, the Richmond women's golf team opened the spring season finishing 26th out of 33 teams at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic.
The 33-team event featured 172 players and was played on two different courses on Kiawah Island, Cougar Point and Oak Point.
The Spiders shot a 326 in the morning round Monday and followed that up with a 317 in the afternoon and another 317 in Tuesday's final round.
Richmond freshman Tracy Martin led the Spiders with a 239 (80-82-77), which tied her for 97th out of 172 golfers. Senior Lauren Folgosa tied for 105th at 240 (82-76-82) and junior Christina Gray tied for 112th at 241 (80-80-81).
Junior Jillian Fraccola tied for 125th at 244 (84-79-81) and senior Anne Sprick tied for 138th at 250 (84-88-78).
The Spiders return to action at the Low County Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. on March 13 and 14.
