
Austin Ties For Sixth At State Open Of Virginia

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Richmond sophomore Nick Austin tied for sixth at the 2010 SunTrust State Open of Virginia played July 15-18 at Independence Golf Club.
Richmond sophomore Daniel Walker tied for 28th and senior Michael Shrader tied for 32nd.
Austin, who played in nine events for the Spiders last season as a freshman, finished the 72-hole tournament at 12-under-par 276, two shots out of fifth place. Austin shot a 4-under 68 in the opening round, a 2-under 70 in the second round, an even-par 72 in the third round and a final round 6-under 66.
Walker, who was the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year last year, finished at 2-under-par 286 to tie for 28th. After shooting a 3-over 75 in the opening round, Walker finished with three sub-par round with a 1-under 71 in the second round and 2-under-par 70s in the third and fourth round.
Shrader, who was a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar in 2009-10, finished at 1-under-par 287 to tie for 32nd. Shrader shot a 2-over 74 in the first round, 3-under 69 in the second round, 3-over 75 in the third and another 3-under 69 in the final round.
