RICHMOND, Va. - It has been 12 years since Richmond women's golf coach Jill Briles-Hinton played on the LPGA Tour, but that did not stop her from returning to professional golf this summer.
Hinton, who left the LPGA Tour in 1998 to coach women's golf at the University of Florida, started a comeback this summer, playing in Duramed Futures Tour events, including one at Richmond Country Club, Aug. 13-15.
The Peoria, Ill. native and former Academic All-American at the University of Miami was an exempt member of the LPGA Tour from 1987-98, with three runner-up finishes.
After coaching collegiate golf for the past 12 years, Briles-Hinton played in the Futures Tour's Pennsylvania Classic and Richmond and Greater Richmond Golf Classic.
She will also play in the Price Chopper Tour Championship in Albany, N.Y. over Labor Day Weekend.
I've missed it, I didn't realize how much I did miss it," Briles-Hinton said. "It just makes you want to practice and compete even more."
