MANAKIN-SABOT, Va. - After an impressive season-opening tournament, the Richmond men's golf team returns to action Monday for the Verizon Wireless VCU Shootout at Hermitage Country Club.
This will be the first of two-straight local tournaments for the Spiders, who host the Richmond Intercollegiate Oct. 11-12 at Independence Country Club.
The Spiders will take the same lineup that played in the season-opening Marshall Invitational, Nick Austin, Brad Miller, Sam Beach, Jack Wilkes and Michael Shrader. Jack Lessing will play as an individual.
The VCU Shootout includes four top-50 teams, Wake Forest, UNC-Greensboro, Liberty and Charlotte, who Richmond finished second to at last spring's Atlantic 10 Championship.
The 54-hole tournament will be played on Hermitage's prestigious Manakin Course, a 6,955-yard, par 72 layout.
The first two rounds will be played on Monday beginning with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start. The final round begins on Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.
Live Scoring for the tournament is available through Golfstat.com. Check back here at RichmondSpiders.com Monday night for SpiderTV's day one recap.
