Kelly, McGovern Win On Day One Of Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -
Juniors Beth Kelly and Meaghan McGovern won their individual events as Friday came to a close at the 46th Annual Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va.
Beth Kelly came in first-place in the women's 10,000m. Her time of 36:19.18 broke the William & Mary Zable Stadium record, as well as the Colonial Relays meet record. Her time also stands as 27th in the NCAA East Region, 67th in the NCAA overall, and first in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Junior Emma Berry also finished sixth the 10,000m race with a time of 38:08.89.
Senior Nicol Traynor came in second in the 3,000, steeplechase (10:32.16). Her time broke the facility and meet records, in addition to ranking 13th in the NCAA, fourth in the NCAA East Region, and first in the Atlantic 10.
Freshman Jill Prentice finished ninth and set a personal record in the women's 5,000m (16:48.32). Her time ranks seventh among NCAA freshmen, fourth among NCAA East Region freshmen, 47th in the NCAA overall, 26th in the NCAA East, and third in the Atlantic 10.
Junior Meaghan McGovern captured first-place in the hammer throw competition. Her mark of 53.86m won the top spot over 25 collegiate competitors. Her throw stands as 60th in the NCAA, 29th in the East Region, and third in the Atlantic 10.
Senior X'auntasia Johnson placed 10th in the long jump competition with a mark of 5.32m.
As for the men, senior Tim Quinn came in 12th-place in the men's 5,000m race (14:25.53).
The Colonial Relays continue on Saturday at 9 a.m.
