RICHMOND -- Head women's golf coach Jill Briles-Hinton finished 24th overall at the Eagle Classic, an LPGA Futures Tour event at the Richmond Country Club this weekend.
Hinton, who entered the tournament as an alternate, fired a four-under par 68 Friday and had her name atop the leader board during Round 1. After a 75 Saturday, she bounced back Sunday to post an even-par round and a three-day total of one-under, 215.
Mo Martin carded 13-under and won the 144-player tournament by three shots.
It was an all-Spider affair for Hinton this weekend, who was aided by recent Richmond grad and one of her former players Jillian Fraccola as her caddy.
No stranger to tournament golf, Hinton, a 12-year LPGA pro, played on the Futures Tour last summer after 12 years away from pro golf.
The Eagle Classic had even more Richmond ties as former women's golf coach and current associate athletics director LaRee Sugg was featured on the Futures Tour website (Click here for article). Sugg, the third-ever African-American in history to earn LPGA Tour membership, came to the tournament to follow Briles-Hinton, but also two young African-American pros.
