UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND -- Junior Daniel Walker was honored Wednesday as the Atlantic 10 men's golf co-Performer of the Week after posting a seventh-place finish at the season-opening Marshall Invitational.
Walker fired back-to-back rounds of five-under-par 66, held the Day One lead and finished seventh overall at the 54-hole tournament at Guyan CC in Huntington, W.Va. It marked the third-consecutive top-10 finish for the junior, dating back to season and including his T10 at the 2011 A-10 Championship.
As a team, the Spiders finished seventh at the Marshall Invitational, led by Walker's six-under-par 207 (66-66-75).
Walker's five-under-par 66s tie as the third-lowest single-round scores to par in school history, while his two-round score of 10-under-par 132 ties a school record originally set by Nick Austin in the same tournament last season.
A native of Earlysville, Va., Walker is coming off a standout summer that saw him qualify for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship and claim medalist honors in VSGA Amateur and SunTrust State Open qualifying.
