Magic Wann Scores Hat Trick In Win Over ODU
09/02/2011 | Women's Soccer
Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Year Becca Wann netted her first collegiate hat trick en route to the Spiders' 4-0 win over ODU Thursday at Robins Stadium.
Preseason All Conference selection Wann wasted little time in dispatching the Monarch defense. Wann's first tally came by way off a rebound shot from Ashley Williams. After Williams' shot hit the post, Wann was there for a recovery header to put the Spiders on the board.
Wann struck again when she used her signature header to tally another home, this time by way of a Natalie LeClair and Liza Koch cross pass.
Emily Dale had the most improbable score of the night after bypassing a Monarch defender turned, spun and blasted from 25 yards out past the outstretched hands of the Monarch keeper.
Wann would add another when she headed in a close range pass from Koch and Virginia Chandler.
Wann's stellar night would end with 11 shots, three goals and one assist. The hat trick is a career-best by the Chesterfield native.
Richmond notched a season-high 29 shots and both Dale and Koch followed Wann with four apiece.
The Spiders return to action Sunday at JMU. First kick is set for 7:00 p.m.
