Spider Men's Golf Set For Pinehurst Intercollegiate

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond Spiders men's golf team will head to Pinehurst, North Carolina this weekend to play in the Golf Pride Pinehurst Intercollegiate. The 54-hole tournament will run from Saturday to Sunday.
The tournament is one of most prestigious in the country, having been held at Pinehurst for more than 20 years. This season's tournament will be played on Pinehurst No. 6 - which will play 6,990 yards and be a par-71 setup.
The 2012 Golf Pride Pinehurst Intercollegiate will have 12 teams participating and 12 individual players. The 12 teams playing in this year's tournament will be - Richmond, Ball State, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky, Marshall, Old Dominion, Penn State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Villanova, VCU, and Virginia Tech.
This weekend's tournament will be the second one for the Spiders this spring. Back on February 20-21, Richmond tied for seventh at the Wexford Intercollegiate. Headlining the Spiders' play at the Wexford Intercollegiate was sophomore Jack Wilkes, who carded a 54-hole total of 226 (+10) to earn his first collegiate top-20 finish, tying for 14th.
