Austin Advances to U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier

BEALLSVILLE, Md. - University of Richmond Spiders rising senior golfer Nick Austin advanced to the sectional qualifying round of the U.S. Open this past Tuesday.
"I am very excited for Nick," Spider head coach Adam Decker remarked. "He's has an awesome opportunity to qualify for the National Championship. He has the game to make it - and with two good rounds will be representing the Spiders out at the Olympic Club in San Francisco this June."
At a local qualifying event held at the Four Streams Golf Club this past Tuesday, Austin was one of golfers to advance to the sectional qualifying round of the U.S. Open. Carding a 71 (-1), Austin was part of a six-player playoff to determine the final spot. After playing the 10th hole four times, Austin made it through to the next stage.
The U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier will be held at Woodmont Country Club on Monday, June 4th in Rockville, Maryland. The U.S. Open will be held at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, CA June 14th through the 17th.
