Sink Combs Dethlefs To Lead Robins Center Renovations

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - With the goal of enhancing the fan experience, the University of Richmond has hired architectural firm Sink Combs Dethlefs to develop a master plan for the renovation of the Robins Center arena and concourse.
The Denver-based Sink Combs Dethlefs is a preeminent designer of areas and event centers throughout the United States.
Sink Combs Dethlefs has been responsible for the University of New Mexico's Pit Arena Renovation, the University of Michigan's Crisler Arena Renovation and Expansion, the Oklahoma City Thunder Chesapeake EnergyArena's Renovation, and the designing of Saint Louis University's Chaifetz Arena.
"We are thrilled to be working with Sink Combs Dethlefs. They have an excellent reputation and have recently done some outstanding work at collegiate venues, namely at Chaifetz Arena at St. Louis and the renovation at The Pit at New Mexico," Deputy Athletic Director David Walsh said. "We are excited for the next steps in this process ."
As part of the University's Master Plan, Sink Combs Dethlefs will review different areas of the 40-year-old Robins Center, including but not limited to entertainment/hospitality space, seating, ceiling, lighting, use of video boards, concourse/concessions, finishes and graphics. They will develop plans over the nextseveral months and construction will take place in the offseason over the next few years.
The Robins Center, which opened in 1972, has recently undergone renovations to the men's and women's basketball coach's offices, locker rooms and lounges. Renovations of the football offices, meeting rooms and academic support offices are underway and will be completed this summer.
