Rocco's Record Impressive in November
In his eight seasons as a head coach, the Spiders' Danny Rocco has posted a record of 19-4 (.826) in the month of November. At Richmond, Rocco is 5-0 in the month, including a perfect 3-0 mark in 2012.
Spiders Against Ranked Opponents
Dating back to the start of the 2007 season, Richmond has posted a record of 21-19 against ranked opponents. Richmond's last win against a ranked opponent came last season, when the Spiders defeated then No. 2-ranked James Madison on October 20, 2012. UR's last victory on the road against a ranked team came on October 16, 2010 when Richmond defeated No. 8 Massachusetts, 11-10.
Richmond Interception Streak at 20 Games
With LB Eric Wright's interception at Stony Brook, Richmond has recorded at least one pick in 20-straight games. Over that stretch, the Spiders have intercepted a total of 40 passes. Richmond led the FCS in interceptions last season with 24 INTs and this year ranks second in the country with 16 picks.
Strauss Named CAA Player of the Week
After helping lead the Spiders to a come-from-behind, 39-31 win at Stony Brook, QB Michael Strauss was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week on November 11. Strauss completed 28-of-38 passes for 360 yards and a school-record tying five touchdowns.
Stephen Barnette Just Yards Away From Milestone
With just 28 more receiving yards this season, WR Stephen Barnette will become just the fourth player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in one season. Barnette's 972 yards rank fifth all-time at Richmond and he sits just 215 yards shy of tying Tre Gray's school record of 1,187 yards. Barnette leads the CAA receiving yards and ranks 10th nationally.
Tight Losses
Despite having a record of 4-6 on the season, Richmond has still out-scored its opponents on the year, 255-223. Five of the six losses have all been by seven points or less and overall, all the setbacks have come by just 6.0 points a game. Of the five losses to FCS teams, four of those teams are currently ranked or have been nationally ranked this season.
Strauss Shattering School Records
QB Michael Strauss is having the best statistical season any quarterback has had in the 130 years of the Richmond football program. This year, Strauss has set single-season records for completions (276), attempts (426), yards (3,032) and tied the mark for touchdown passes (20). Strauss has also set single-game record this year for completions (41), attempts (64) and touchdowns (5).
Jordi Kicks His Way Up
K Brandon Jordi has made an immediate impact in his first season with the Spiders. Jordi leads the CAA with 16 field goals this season, ranking him tied for third on the Spiders' single-season list. Jordi's 67 points are the second most in the conference and place him sixth all-time at the school.
