Spiders' Daniel Walker Continues Play At NCAAs

ATLANTA, Ga. – University of Richmond Spiders senior men's golfer Daniel Walker continued play at the 2013 NCAA Division I Championship on Wednesday, carding a second round 71 (+1) to end the second day in a tie for 97h place with a total of 145 (+5).
“Daniel really showed a lot of heart and grit today,” Richmond head coach Adam Decker said following the round. “It was a day where he only hit eight greens in regulation and managed to shoot one over par. He never even thought about giving up on any hole or situation. I was really proud of his effort.”
Walker started his round very strong on Wednesday, cutting five strokes off his front nine score from Tuesday with a 34 (-1). Walker started the round with a birdie on the first hole and then followed that up with a birdie on No. 5.
On the back nine, Walker battled back from a rough start to finish the final five holes a combined -1. On the day, the senior totaled four birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey to card a second round score of 71 (+1) – three strokes better than his first round score.
