
Wo Men's Golf Begins Season At William & Mary Invite

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – The Richmond women's golf team opens its 2013-14 season at the William & Mary Invitational at Kingsmill Resort this weekend.
The Invitational takes place at Kingsmill Resort, a plantation course, located in Williamsburg, Va. The course is a par 71 and will be a three-round event. Tee times begin at 8 a.m. each day.
The teams competing in the tournament besides Richmond include: William & Mary, Randolph-Macon, Hampton, Hofstra, Georgetown, Morehead State and Elon.
Richmond's lineup in the season opener will include senior Lauren Conder, sophomore Jessica Lydia, sophomore Elizabeth Rubino, senior Krystin Schwarze and freshman Caroline Quamme.
The Spiders return eight letterwinners, including four upperclassmen to the roster. Will welcomes two freshmen and transfer Lydia to this year's lineup.
Richmond posted a breakout season last year, winning two tournaments in the same season for the first time in program history. Additionally, Richmond totaled six top-five finishes and eight top-10 finishes while carding eight of the best 11 single-round scores in program history.
Conder returns as Richmond's top performer, having played in 10 events in 2012-13, averaging a 79.19 stroke per round. Conder totaled one top-10 finish and two top-20 finishes last season. Lydia, a transfer from Tulsa, is also expected to contribute.
After the William & Mary Invitational, the Spiders travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the Starmount Fall Classic the weekend of Sept. 30.
