NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Richmond men's golf swept the Atlantic 10 weekly honors after the Spiders finished 10th in the 20-team Kiawah Classic over the weekend.
Junior David Germann was named the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week, while freshman Matthew Lowe earned Freshman of the Week, his second such honor this season.
Germann notched his first top-20 finish of the season as he shot 221 (+5) to tie for 19th place. He started off with a round of 73 (+1) on day one and followed with two rounds of 74. Germann made four birdies in his final round and finished with eight for the tournament. His three-round score of 221 was his best of this season.
The award marked Germann's first A-10 Golfer of the Week honor. He did win a Rookie of the Week nod back in the fall of 2012.
Lowe picked up his second freshman award after shooting 225 (+9) with rounds of 76-76-73. He picked up nine birdies through three rounds, and remains second on the team in stroke average this season (74.54).
The Spiders will not compete again until Feb. 23 when they travel back to South Carolina for the Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head.
