LUTZ, Fla. – The Richmond men's golf team plays in the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship, beginning Friday at TPC Tampa Bay.
The 54-hole tournament features 18-holes over three days at the par-71, 6,008-yard layout. TPC Tampa Bay, designed by Bobby Weed with Chi Chi Rodriguez as a player consultant, has hosted a Champions Tour event for 21 consecutive years.
The Spiders begin teeing off on Friday at 9:45 a.m., playing alongside VCU and George Washington in the 10-team field. Teams will be re-seeded after each round.
VCU is the favorite to win the 2014 Atlantic 10 Championship, but the Spiders just battled the Rams in a match last weekend at Kinloch Golf Club in Midlothian. VCU took a 4-3 win, but Richmond's Danny Pizetoski and Jack Wilkes picked up victories over VCU's top two players, Adam and Matt Ball.
