UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – Head coach Adam Decker has announced the 2014-15 Richmond men's golf schedule.
The Spiders will travel to Iowa, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina before the season concludes at the Atlantic 10 Championship in Harmony, Florida.
“We are very excited about this year's schedule,” Decker said. “We have an excellent schedule that will challenge us as a team and prepare us for the A10 championships.”
The fall season kicks off on Sept. 14 when UR heads to Burlington, Iowa, for the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The Spiders then return home for the VCU Shootout (Sept. 22-23) at Hermitage Country Club in Manakin-Sabot, Virginia.
Richmond will compete in the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic in Duluth, Georgia, on Oct. 13-14. The Spiders then conclude the fall season with the Wendy's Kiawah Classic (Nov. 2-4) at Turtle Point Golf Club on the renowned Kiawah Island, South Carolina.
UR returns to South Carolina to start 2015 with the Wexford Intercollegiate (Feb. 23-24) on Hilton Head Island. March will feature tournaments at the Mission Inn Resort (Howey in the Hills, Florida) and Country Club of Landfall (Wilmington, North Carolina).
The Spiders travel to the Irish Creek Intercollegiate in Kannapolis, North Carolina, on April 11-12, then face off against VCU in match play format at Kinloch Golf Club on April 18 in Manakin-Sabot, Virginia.
This year's A10 tournament will be at the Harmony Golf Preserve in Harmony, Florida from April 24-26.
The Spiders are coming off a fantastic 2013-14 season where they finished second as a team in the A10 championships. Then-junior Danny Pizetoski won the individual conference title outright, becoming the first Spider to win the A10 individual medal. He went on to represent UR in the NCAA Regionals and U.S. Amateur Championships.
Richmond returns all but one letterwinner from last year's squad and will welcome two outstanding freshmen in Jimmy Davis and Matthew Lowe.
