UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond women's golf has released its fall competition dates, new head coach Ali Wright announced Monday.
This year marks the inaugural season for UR in the Patriot League, as Richmond joined as an associate member for women's golf.
The four fall dates kick off on September 15 with the Louisville Cardinal Cup in Simpsonville, Kentucky. Richmond will then travel to the Navy Women's Fall Invitational (Sept. 27-28) in Annapolis, Maryland.
On October 13, the Spiders head south for the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted by ECU in Greenville, North Carolina. The fall slate concludes with the University of Delaware Invitational on Oct. 25-26 in Rehoboth, Delaware.
This season not only marks the beginning of a new conference for women's golf, but also new coaching leadership as Wright begins her first season at the helm.
“I am very excited for my first year with the program and our new conference,” Wright said. “We have a strong slate of competition for the fall that I hope will prepare us well for our spring tournaments.”
The Spiders placed eighth in the Colonial Athletic Association championship last April. Senior Eliza Breed returns for her final season, while the Spiders also welcome sisters Sara Diaz and Elsa Diaz as newcomers to the program. Sara will be a graduate student after transferring from Texas A&M-Commerce, while Elsa enters as a freshman.
The program's spring competition dates will be announced later this fall.
