Matthew Lowe Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Richmond freshman Matthew Lowe has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Thursday.
A native of Farmingdale, N.Y., Lowe shot seven-over-par (223) at the recent VCU Shootout at Hermitage Country Club. His three-day score was second best on the team and ranked 19th overall, giving him his first top 20 finish as a Spider.
Lowe's best round came on Monday afternoon, as he was just one stroke over par with a 73.
Wednesday's conference award will hopefully be the first of many for the talented young Spider golfer. Before stepping onto the Richmond campus this fall, Lowe had already broken the 39-year-old course record at LaTourette Golf Course with a nine-under 63 in the second round of the NYC Amateur.
The Spiders will continue fall play on Oct. 13-14 at the AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic.
