Women's Golf Takes Longest Fall Trip To Wisconsin
10/11/2015 | Women's Golf
With two strong showings in the books in the early part of the 2015-16 season, the Richmond Spiders women's golf program makes its longest road trip of the fall to Wisconsin for the Loyola Whistling Straits Intercollegiate, which is contested Monday and Tuesday. The tournament, hosted by Loyola University Chicago, will be played at Meadows Valley in Sheboygan, a par-72, 6,100-yard layout.
Richmond has finished third and sixth so far this season as a team, in the top third of squads in both tournaments to start the year. Richmond has two Top-10 individual finishes, and two others in the Top 20 so far.
The Spiders will send the same five golfers as they have their first two tournaments. Senior Jessica Lydia (Jakarta, Indonesia) and sophomore Elsa Diaz (San Antonio, Texas) will be joined by freshmen Isabella Rusher (Salisbury, North Carolina), Annie Collom (Davidson, North Carolina) and Sophie DiPetrillo (Dover, Massachusetts) on the playing roster. In addition, senior Alicia Reggiannini will play as an individual, in her first tournament action of the season.
The 56-hole tournament begins with a 36-hole day one, teeing off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Richmond is paired with Wofford and host Loyola for the first day. They will start on the first five holes to open the tournament. Tuesday's shotgun start will beat 9 a.m., with pairings determined by Monday's team finish.
The tournament has a nine-team field, with Loyola and Wofford, Dayton, Northern Iowa, IPFW, Green Bay, Valparaiso and Wagner.
