Spiders Open Spring At Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Richmond men's golf team will open the spring season on Monday with the Wexford Intercollegiate tournament, held at the Wexford Plantation course on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.
The Spiders will escape cold temperatures to take on the par-72, 6,828-yard course. The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Both days will begin with shotgun starts at 8:30 a.m. Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-50's with rain showers possible.
This year's field includes host Francis Marion, Austin Peay State University, Campbell University, Charleston Southern University, Cleveland State University, University of Dayton, Elon University, Furman University, Georgia Southern University, Ohio University, Presbyterian College, Radford University, Tennessee Tech University, USC Aiken, Virginia Commonwealth University, Western Carolina University, Wofford College, and the College of William & Mary.
The Spiders look to build off their fall competition where David Germann and Matthew Lowe each won Atlantic 10 weekly honors in the final weekend at Kiawah.
Senior Danny Pizetoski led the way with a 73.63 stroke average through four tournaments, while Lowe averaged 74.54.
In last season's Wexford tournament, Richmond finished 14th.
