Diaz Leads Spiders On First Day Of Kiawah Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Freshman Elsa Diaz shot a first-round 79 (+7) to lead Richmond in the first day of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic.
Elsa Diaz tied for 61st with her first-round score as the Spiders sit in 32nd place in the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. Richmond played the first round at Kiawah's Oak Point.
Junior Jessica Lydia was just one stroke behind Elsa Diaz with a first-round 80 (+8) to tie for 75th. Senior Sara Diaz shot an 83 (+11), Maria Pons Cano shot 88 (+16) and Alicia Reggiannini shot 89 (+17) to round out the Richmond scorers.
UR will begin round two tomorrow morning at 11:42 at the Osprey Point course.
