HARMONY, Fla. - The Richmond Spider men's golf team was selected second in a coaches poll in advance of the 2015 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship at the Harmony Golf Preserve in Harmony, Fla.
The poll was conducted among the league's 11 men's golf coaches. UR finished runner-up to VCU at last year's A-10 tournament by just one stroke.
This year's tournament begins on Friday morning with rounds each day until Sunday's finish. The winner of the tournament earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
"We are really excited about this year's tournament," head coach Adam Decker said. "We are looking forward to seeing the new site in Florida. We had a great week of practice and are ready to compete for a championship."
Senior Danny Pizetoski heads to Florida looking to lead the Spiders as the reigning A-10 medalist. He leads the Spiders in stroke average at 74.79. He has tallied two top-20 finishes and one under-par round this season.
Freshman Matthew Lowe will look to make an impact in his first conference tournament. He has won four Atlantic 10 Freshman of the Week awards and boasts a stroke average of 76.18.
