Elsa Diaz Tabbed For VaSID Women's Golf Second Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Rising sophomore Elsa Diaz has yet another honor for her outstanding rookie season at the University of Richmond. Diaz was named to the VaSID All-State Second Team, the organization announced Monday.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Diaz is one of 10 women's golfers throughout the Virginia University Division that were recognized by the Virginia Organization of Sports Information Directors (VaSID).
Diaz placed earned All-Patriot League Second Team honors earlier this year for her top-10 finish in the league tournament. She averaged a team-best 77.60 strokes per round with two top-10 finishes and two more top-20 finishes this season.
She has continued to excel this summer with outstanding play in some of the region's amateur championships. She won the VSGA Stroke Play Championship last week.
UR's Tracy Martin was the last women's golfer to be honored by VaSID, taking a place on the first team in 2013.
