Spider Ranked No. 18 In STATS FCS Preseason Poll

NEW YORK – The preseason national rankings keep rolling in for the University of Richmond Spiders football team, as the squad was pegged No. 18 in the country in the preseason STATS FCS Poll released on Monday.
In other preseason polls released earlier this summer, the Spiders are ranked No. 18 in the FCS Coaches Poll, No. 12 by Lindy's College Football and No. 20 by Athlon College Football.
Last season, Richmond was ranked in the top-25 of the FCS Coaches or STATS FCS poll every week of the season, reaching as high as No. 8 in the nation. Last season, the Spiders began the season ranked No. 20 in the STATS FCS Poll.
A national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries selects the STATS FCS Top 25. In the voting, a first-place vote is worth 25 points, a second-place vote 24 points, all the way down to one point for a 25th-place vote.

The Richmond Spiders football team will open the 2015 season on the road in College Park, Md. against Big Ten foe Maryland on September 5.
