Richmond women's golf is off to an eight-place start at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, finishing at 623 (312 – 311) after two of three scheduled rounds at Brook Valley Country Club, hosted by East Carolina Monday. The Spiders are just 11 strokes out of third-place William & Mary in a tight group of teams in the top half of the 17-team field.
Spider senior Jessica Lydia (Jakarta, Indonesia) is the top Richmond golfer after 36 holes, at 12 over par (78 – 74 152) in a tie for 17th so far. She posted an eagle three on the par-five, 420-yard second hole in her afternoon round. Freshman Isabella Rusher (Salisbury, North Carolina) is at plus-11 (76 – 79 155) and 30th in the 90-player field. Three strokes behind Rusher and in a tie for 43rd are sophomore Elsa Diaz (San Antonio, Texas) and freshman Annie Collom (Davidson, North Carolina), with matching plus-14 158 scores. Collom shot 78 and 80, with Diaz flipping those scores in the first two rounds.
The final round begins Tuesday morning at 8:30 with a shotgun start. The Spiders are paired with High Point and Charleston Southern, starting on the seventh and eighth holes. Live stats will be found at Golfstat.com for the final day.
