Lowe, Spiders Claim Victory In Ireland

WATERVILLE, IRELAND - Richmond junior Matthew Lowe won his first collegiate individual title, and the Richmond Spiders won the Waterville Intercollegiate championship on Monday afternoon at the Waterville Golf Links in Waterville, Ireland.
UR led by eight strokes heading into the final round and pushed the winning margin to 17 strokes over conference rival Davidson, and 22 strokes over Rutgers. The Spiders finished with team rounds of 292-304=596 (+20).
Lowe won the individual medalist among the 25 players from the three schools. He shot one-under par for the tournament with rounds of 71-72=143 (-1). Through two tournaments and four rounds this season, Lowe has yet to shot an over-par round with a stroke average of 71.75.
Senior Keegan Hoff placed third overall with a two-round score of 74-77=151 (+7) and senior Mark Reilly finished fourth overall with a two-round score of 73-79=152 (+8).
Sophomore Ben Wanichek shot the third-lowest round on the second day, coming in at 76 and finishing the tournamant at 79-76=155 (+11). He tied for eighth overall.
Freshman Zack Justice finished one stroke behind him at 74-82=156 (+12).
UR had three players compete as individuals with Andrew Sciaretta leading the pack at 79-79=158 (+14). Freshman Tim Graham shot 83-80=163 (+19) senior Jason Park came in at 82-90=172 (+28).
Richmond is back on the course in the states on Oct. 17-18 for the AutoTrader Collegiate in Atlanta.
