Freshman Isabella Rusher Ties New Round Record At Kiawah

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Freshman Isabella Rusher tied a school record for lowest individual round as she shot a 69 (-3) in the final round of the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Spring Classic.
Richmond posted a fantastic team finish as the Spiders placed 12th in the 41-team field at the largest college women's golf tournament in the country.
"It was a great way to start the spring season," head coach Ali Wright said. "Everyone is already hitting the ground running and shooting some of their best scores. We are highly motivated to continue to improve this spring. We're in a great place."
Senior Jessica Lydia led the Spiders overall as she shot 223 (+7) over three rounds. Lydia finished tied for 21st overall.
Sophomore Elsa Diaz also had a strong final round as she posted for first under-par round of her career with a 71 (-1). She shot 227 (+11) for the tournament to tie for 42nd overall.
Rusher rallied from rounds of 76 and 82 to shoot her 69 on Tuesday, finishing with a tournament score of 227 (+11). She tallied four birdies and a bogey on her way to tying the school record, set by Tracy Martin and Jillian Fraccola.
Freshmen Annie Collom (236, +20) and Sophie DiPetrillo (238, +22) rounded out the Spider fivesome.
Richmond's final round team score of 294 (+6) tied for second all-time in Richmond history.
UR will continue the spring slate with a date in Jacksonville at the Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday, March 9.
