Richmond turned in its third-straight runner-up finish in the Atlantic 10 Championship in 2016. The Spiders have been a model of consistency with proven excellence in the Atlantic 10 field. Richmond has placed a player among the top three finishers at the conference championships for three years in a row.
Sophomore Matthew Lowe continued to elevate his play, earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Franklin Regional after recording one of the top stroke averages in the conference and region. Lowe also earned an All-Conference designation as he finished his season by setting a new school record with a stroke average of 71.91.
Lowe became the third Spider in the last four years to advance as an individual to an NCAA Regional. He finished the season with five top-10 finishes and two top-20 finishes. Lowe tallied 10 under-par rounds and set a new school record for lowest round with his 63 (-8) at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
Senior David Germann wrapped up his Spider career with a third-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships. He went under par four times on the season and finished with a stroke average of 73.80, good for second on the team.
Head coach Adam Decker earned his second career Coach of the Year honor. He led the Spiders to seven top-10 finishes in eight tournaments over the course of the season.
