
Men's Golf Tees Off Season Against Rival In Janney Shootout

RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's golf team will open the 2016-17 season on Monday, Sept. 19 at the Country Club of Virginia's Tuckahoe Creek Course against A-10 and local rival VCU.
The Spiders will play two rounds on Monday and a final round on Tuesday in the Janney Shootout, just five miles away from campus. This year's field includes VCU, Boston College, West Virginia, Charlotte, George Washington, Virginia Tech, Maryland, East Carolina, James Madison, Old Dominion, Iowa State, UNC Greensboro and Radford.
Richmond is coming off a second-place finish for the third consecutive year at the Atlantic 10 Championships. UR returns All-Atlantic 10 honoree Matthew Lowe who competed as an individual in the NCAA Regionals last season. Lowe set a new school record for the lowest season stroke average at 71.91. He is currently third all-time with a career stroke average of 73.69.
Senior Keegan Hoff returns after posting the team's third-best stroke average, while sophomore Ben Wanichek placed in the top 10 at the Atlantic 10 Championships with the second-best score among all true freshmen.
Seniors Mark Reilly and Jason Park will compete for starting spots among the Spiders' new freshmen trio of Tim Graham, Zack Justice and Andrew Sciaretta.
