Spiders Have Strong Showing at NCAA Regionals

The Spider cross country teams competed in the NCAA Southeast Regionals with the women taking 8th and the men taking 15th out of 33 teams.
The women claimed the 8th spot in the 6K race. Leading the Spider pack was senior Amanda Corbosiero (20:43.6) taking 25th overall. Senior Courtney Thompson (21:01.6), junior Ave Grosenheider (21:11.0), senior Colleen Carney (21:17.5) and junior Claire Brown (21:42.0) placed 37th, 50th, 58th and 86th respectively for the Spider top 5 with average team time of 21:11 and a 1-5 split of 0:58.Â
The men also posted strong results, claiming 15th in a field of 33 teams. Led by junior Miles Clikeman who claimed 23rd with a time of 30:35.5, the Spider men had a team average time of 31:52. Senior Johnny Hogue (31:40.1) and freshmen Peter Borger (32:08.1), Paul Knepple (32:17.1) and Trey Burleson (32:43.7) rounded out the Spider top 5 finishers with 63rd, 97th, 102nd and 122nd places respectively.Â
Both Clikeman and Corbosiero earned NCAA All-Region honors for finishing in the top 25 of the field. The awards cap strong seasons for both student-athletes.
Qualifiers for the NCAA Championships will be released as they come available.
The Spider's cross country season is nearly over with the ECAC/IC4A and NCAA Championships next Saturday, November 17th.
