KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- Junior Zack Justice and sophomore Michael Baker each fired rounds of 69 in Sunday's third and final round at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate in Kannapolis, N.C.Â
For Justice, it was his third straight round at or under par after posting back-to-back scores of even-par 71 in the first and second rounds on Saturday. He is the second Spider to record three rounds at or under par in a single event this season, joining senior Ben Wanichek, who did it at the River Run Collegiate in September. On Sunday, Justice finished the event tied for 14th in the field of 96 at 211 (-2). It was his second top-15 finish in his last three events after tying for 13th at the Mobile Intercollegiate in February.Â
Baker carded four birdies in his final seven holes Sunday en route to his two-under 69, his second career round in the sixties after shooting a four-under 68 at the Autotrader Collegiate in October. He finished tied for 28th at 214 (+1).Â
As a team, the Spiders finished the event at 873 (+21), tied for 13th in the 16-team field. Richmond was just behind A-10 rivals VCU, who finished tied for 11th. Davidson, the defending A-10 champion, placed fifth.Â
The Spiders will make a brief return to Richmond Sunday evening before heading back to North Carolina later this week for the Stitch Intercollegiate in Cary, N.C. on Friday and Saturday.Â
