Lou Baker Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Freshman Lou Baker has been named the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Friday. Baker, from Timonium, Md., tied for seventh at this week's River Run Collegiate in Davidson, N.C. with a 54-total of 216 (even par).

On the final shot of his first round on Monday morning, Baker recorded the first hole-in-one of his golf career, sinking his tee shot on the 163-yard fourth hole. The eagle moved Baker from one over par to one under par. He jumped further up the leaderboard during the second round on Monday afternoon, shooting a three-under 69 to finish the day tied for third in the 88-man field.

Baker shot 76 (+4) on a difficult layout in Tuesday's final round, finishing the event behind just six golfers. For Baker, who finished tied for 11th in his collegiate debut at the VCU Invitational earlier this month, it was the first top-10 result of his career.

Baker and the rest of the Spiders will return to action October 7th at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, N.Y. when they compete in the Hamptons Intercollegiate.
