01/13/2020 | Football
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond football head coach Russ Huesman announced the addition of University of Connecticut transfer running back Dante Black (Lilburn, Ga.) to the program Monday. Black spent two years at UConn and enrolled at Richmond starting the spring semester Monday. He will have three years of eligibility remaining, beginning with the 2020 season.
Black played in nine games for the Huskies over the past two years. He took advantage of the NCAA redshirt rule in 2018, playing in three games before maintaining his eligibility. He carried the ball 11 times for 23 yards while catching a pair of passes as a true freshman. Black played in six games in 2019 as a redshirt freshman. He tallied 13 carries for 58 yards – averaging 4.5 yards per carry. He ran for 22 yards against Massachusetts and 16 yards against Tulane last year.
Black had a prolific high school career in Georgia, playing for Brockwood High School. He rushed for 1,927 yards his senior season as a team captain. He finished his senior year in 2017 with 2,295 all-purpose yards and scored a school-record 36 touchdowns. His play helped Brockwood to the Georgia State semifinals. He was named First Team All-State, All-Region and All-Metro in 2017.
