Spider Athletics Announces Virtual Fan Experiences For Basketball

RICHMOND, Va. – With the recent announcement by the University of Richmond that attendance at the Robins Center for men's and women's basketball will be limited to essential staff members and student-athlete guests for the start of the 2020-21 season, Spider Athletics is offering an expanded virtual experience for fans to feel as close to the game as possible while viewing remotely.
All Spider men's and women's basketball home games from the Robins Center will be televised and/or streamed online for fans to watch. A full broadcast schedule for men's basketball will be released at a later date but the Spiders already have 12 games scheduled for national television. All home women's basketball games will be broadcast on ESPN+ as part of the Atlantic 10 Conference television package.
Additionally, all men's basketball games will be broadcast on 99.5 FM/950 AM ESPN Richmond for the 15th consecutive year as the flagship station of the Spiders. Bob Black, Greg Beckwith, Robert Fish and Matt Smith will provide the calls throughout the year for either home and road men's basketball games.

- To tip-off the season, head coaches Chris Mooney and Aaron Roussell will be featured in a virtual season preview available to all Spiders fans hosted by Bob Black. It will provide player and matchup insight from both coaches, how COVID-19 has impacted basketball, and the advantage of opening up the new Queally Athletics Center. The Virtual Tip-Off session will be held Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and you can register to participate in the Zoom meeting by clicking HERE.
- New this season, the Spiders will be offering a pregame viewing experience so fans can see and feel what is happening at the Robins Center starting an hour before men's and women's games and leading up to starting lineups. Fans will be able to watch live for free the pregame warmups for the Spiders from courtside while also hearing an exclusive pregame analysis (men's basketball) from the Voice of the Spiders Bob Black and former Spider legend Greg Beckwith. A link and location for the pregame viewing will be available prior to each game.
- Postgame, the Spiders will live stream on the Richmond Athletics Facebook the postgame virtual press conferences for men's basketball with Spider head coach Chris Mooney and selected student-athletes.
- New this season, the Spiders will offer a robust and interactive digital game program for fans to access the day of each game. This interactive program will offer up-to-date stats, recent videos and much more while being offered for both home and road games this season. The virtual game program will be available on the Spider Game Day pages for each men's basketball contest.
- Spider Athletics will enhance in-game social media for both men's and women's basketball this season on @SpiderAthletics, @SpiderMBB, and @SpiderWBBall on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Hear exclusively on game days from Spider coaches and/or student-athletes on Spider social media accounts after shoot around to get final insights before the game.
- Live game updates and in-game highlights (when available) will be shared throughout the games on the team accounts.
- Fans can follow the main @SpiderAthletics accounts during the game for interactive opportunities to win prizes, learn more about our student-athletes AND impact the game.
- All social media channels will feature experiences such as virtual t-shirt tosses, media time out trivia questions and much more. So, follow us on all accounts above for the best chance to connect with the Spiders on gameday!
