Spider Athletic Fund Donor Spotlight - The Averett Family
11/17/2020
What inspires you to give to the Spider Athletic Fund?
UR athletics did so much for me as a student that I try to give back as much as possible. My mentors Coach Les Hooker, coach Dick Humbert, coach Fred Hardy and Leonard McNeil took me under their wing and guided me into coaching. I am forever grateful.
What is your favorite Spider Athletics moment?
There are three. The 2011 Sweet Sixteen Men's Basketball team and because of family connections, watching TJ Cline be named POY in A10 and watching Aaron Corp lead our football team as an outstanding quarterback.

If you could have dinner with one Spider student-athlete or coach from the past or present who would it be and why?
Coach Chris Mooney. He's become a good friend and we admire his relationship with his team. It's a reflection of his relationship with his own sons.
What excites you the most about the future of Spider Athletics?
The Queally Athletics Center will take the basketball program to another level.

If you could give a current student-athlete one piece of advice, what would it be?
Our advice would be to stay connected to Spider athletics in any way possible. Pat and I love our time on campus and with our Spider friends.
