Spiders Post Strong Day at David Hemery Valentine Invitational, VMI Indoor Classic

BOSTON, Mass. & LEXINGTON, Va. – The University of Richmond women's track and field team collected multiple solid performances Friday at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the VMI Indoor Classic.
At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, sophomore Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.) took second in the 500-meter dash after posting a time of 1:13.64.
Junior Brooke Fazio (Basking Ridge, N.J.) finished the 800-meter run with a time of 2:06.63, while senior Maria Acosta (Maywood, N.J.) turned a time of 2:10.51.
In the mile, senior Claire Brown (Erie, Pa.) finished with a time of 4:51.80.
At the VMI Classic, freshman Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) erased two hundredths off of her new UR program record in the 60-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line at 8.70 in the semifinals. Ross finished second in the prelims with a time of 8.84. Senior Haley Berkeley (Richmond, Va.) finished ninth in the prelims with a time of 9.091.
Berkeley turned in a time of 7.959 in the 60-meter dash to advance to the semifinals where she finished with a time of 7.970. Senior Nai'lah Rowe (Norfolk, Va.) posted a time of 8.025 in the 60-meter dash to advance to the semifinals and turned in a time of 7.972.
Freshman Gabrielle Beneducci (Hampton, N.J.) turned in a time of 59.75 in the 400-meter dash, only .72 shy of her personal best time in the event.
In her first collegiate 1,000-meter run competition of the season, sophomore Kathryn Shea (Hartford, Conn.) turned in a time of 3:22.48.
Junior Caroline Robelen (Glen Allen, Va.) finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:21.28.
The Spiders continue competition at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational and the VMI Indoor Classic Saturday.
