Swimming and Diving in Fourth Place after the First Day of the Atlantic 10 Championships

GENEVA, Ohio – Richmond swimming and diving is currently in fourth place after the first day of the Atlantic 10 Championships, held at the SPIRE Institute. The first day of competition featured the 1-meter diving event, the 200-medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay. The Spiders combined for 73 points, trailing UMass by four points, defending Champion Duquesne has 94 points and the leader after the first day is George Washington with a total of 106 points.
In the diving competition, Emma Yeakley (Cornelius, N.C.) led the Spiders with a personal-best score of 241.20, earning six points in 11th place. Senior Maddy Chao (Niskayuna, N.Y.) added a 15th place finish with 226.80 points, good for two points.
The 200-medley relay team of Hannah Gouger (Cockeysville, Md.), Maggie Purcell (Southampton, N.Y.), Ellie Ronan (Marblehead, Mass.) and Eliza Manning (Frederick County, Md.) turned in a second-place finish with a time of 1:40.81. The 800-freestyle team of Ronan, Purcell, Manning and Lauren Medlin (Cary, N.C.) added a third-place finish at 7:18.82, besting their seeded time by over 20 seconds.
The competition gets going again at 10 a.m. with the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley and the 50 freestyle preliminary races before the finals at 6:30 tomorrow night.
