Spiders Picked Fourth in A-10 Preseason Golf Poll

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- The Richmond Spiders men's golf team was picked fourth in the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Preseason Poll, the conference announced on Wednesday. Richmond received 93 points in preseason voting, behind only VCU (118), Davidson (108) and Dayton (97).

The Spiders are coming off a fifth-place finish at last year's Atlantic 10 Tournament, their 14th top-five finish in the conference in 14 seasons under coach Adam Decker, including the conference championship in 2017. This year's Richmond roster is young and features three golfers with a stroke average under 75 this season: sophomore Michael Childress (74.00) and freshmen Lou Baker (74.17) and Ben Cooper (74.78).

Richmond opened its spring season at the Mobile Sports Authority Collegiate in Mobile Ala. in February, placing 11th in the 14-team field. The Spiders will return to competition this Saturday when they compete in the first two rounds of the 54-hole Mission Inn Spring Spectacular at Howley-in-the-Hills, Fla.
