Fazio Qualifies for NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship

RICHMOND, Va. – University of Richmond junior Brooke Fazio has qualified to race in the 800-meter run at the 2020 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship, set to take place March 13 and 14 in Albuquerque, N.M., hosted by the University of New Mexico.
Fazio's 800-meter flat track time of 2:06.39 Sunday at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship gives her the 10th-best time in the nation. Her mark is also an A-10 Meet record and an University of Rhode Island Mackal Field House record.
The Basking Ridge, N.J. native is the first Spider to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championship since Jessica Young, who qualified and placed ninth in the 60-meter dash in 2007.
Fazio is no stranger to competing in the NCAA Championship, qualifying in the outdoor competition in the 800-meters in 2018 and 2019. As a sophomore in 2019, Fazio turned in a time of 2:05.00 in the first round of prelims finishing third before posting a time of 2:08.19 in the second round of prelims, finishing 17th.
